The conference lecturers of the National Association chose Prati-Donaduzzi pharmaceutical industry, based in Toledo, in western Paraná, as an innovative company model for Research and Development of Innovative Companies (ANPEI).

Unioeste’s Master of Technology Management, Ruan Mendonça, made the confirmation during a technical visit on Wednesday (25), at the headquarters of the industry. Along with Mendonça, 30 innovation managers from companies, government agencies, students and entrepreneurs from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Paraná visited the manufacturing facilities.

According to Mendonça, one of the reasons that led the organization of the ANPEI Innovation Conference to choose Prati-Donaduzzi to visit was innovation. "It is great to know that Brazil and Paraná have such an innovative industry as Prati."

During the technical visit, the group got to know the heart of the company: Prati-Donaduzzi's Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) Department, where drug formulations and methods are developed.

For Thais Simões, from the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department of Minas Gerais Research Development Foundation (FUNDEP), encouraging new research is one of the great differentials of the pharmaceutical industry. “One of the details that struck me most was the company's interaction with universities. This initiative is very important because it shows the commitment to develop innovative products with social impact”, said the lecturer.

Learning about Prati

Prior to the technical visit to the industry research laboratory, the visitors were welcomed by the founding partners, Dr. Luiz Donaduzzi, Dr. Carmen Donaduzzi and the CEO, Eder Fernando Maffissoni.

During the reception, Maffissoni told the evolution of the company in the last 25 years. According to the CEO, the industry is beginning its third phase. Until 2010, it was dedicated solely to serve Governments, providing generic drugs to basic health care units and hospitals.

After this phase, it advanced to Pharma Channel. This change promoted a production breakthrough for the company. It is still the largest public supplier of generics, but is also present in over 55,000 pharmacies throughout Brazil. In addition, from 2020, it will expand its operations, focusing on the area of Medical Prescription. "Today we hold the title of largest producer of generics in Brazil and we are considered the most productive square meter in the industry", said the CEO. Only one factory equipment has the capacity to produce 1 million tablets per hour.

Biopark

In addition to the history of the pharmaceutical industry, the group of lecturers from ANPEI visited the Science and Technology Park of Biosciences (Biopark), also located in Toledo. The Park seeks the development of scientific research especially in the area of biotechnology. “Research is done with people. In 30 years, Biopark will generate 30,000 jobs”, explained Biopark President, Dr. Luiz Donaduzzi.

ANPEI Innovation Conference is being held in Foz do Iguaçu until Friday (27), under the theme Innovation and Industry 4.0.
