Being a pharmacist goes far beyond drugstore counters. The great differential is the multidisciplinarity, in which, from an early age, in college, the student already learns Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Legislation and so many other subjects, which allows the specialist to be ahead in the laboratory, in teaching and in research.
Thinking of honoring one of the most important health professionals, January 20th is dedicated to them, who with care and responsibility contribute to the well-being of so many people.
According to the pharmacist André Bertocco, who works at Prati-Donaduzzi, the specialist is an indispensable professional for health. “Regardless of his/her activities, as different as they may be, the ultimate goal for all of us is health and the improvement of the population's quality of life”, he says.
For him, the role of the professional within the industry is to value the high quality of what he/she does, delivering a high-level final product, which translates dedication into care for each patient.
Career Path
Prati-Donaduzzi is proud to offer opportunities for pharmacists in several working areas, including professionals at the beginning of their careers. That was the case with Bertocco, who is now a senior analyst in the field of microbiology, and participated in two different programs.
At the beginning, the Vacation Internship allowed him to have his first contact with all areas of the company and to understand the macro flow of medicines. The second one, the Mandatory Internship, which was carried out within the Quality Control laboratory with a focus on Microbiology, a sector in which it was possible to expand and take off his career.
“Right after the internship, I was hired as an employee in the Microbiology department, carrying out only analyzes related to quality control. Then, I was assigned to the Microbiological Research and Development team”, explains the pharmacist.
Microbiology in detail
Microbiology focuses on improving and optimizing the laboratory and conducting investigations. It is a unique sector within the industry and a differential in the pharmaceutical area.
The professional can explore several areas: quality control, and not just medicines and supplies, development of analytical methods, correlation between the components of a particular formulation and the type of microorganism that may or may not be recovered from there, among others.
Professional development
The pandemic imposed by COVID-19 brought a new view to the moment we live in and reinforces the importance of the work of health professionals, including the pharmacist. The professional has worked to bring information to those who seek them at the counters of pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, health units, among others.
