A group of 60 students from the 4th grade of Engenheiro Waldyr Luiz Becker Municipal School had a different class. The children learned about the animals of Cascavel Municipal Zoo closely. The action took place on Tuesday (26) and is part of Prati-Sustainable Project, which was developed by Prati-Donaduzzi pharmaceutical industry.

During the visit, the little ones met some of the 370 animals that are in Cascavel´s Zoo, including the jaguar Tony, the tiger Hu, macaws, alligators, snakes and monkeys, as well.

Visitors received environmental guidance from guide Jean Alvaro Garda, who explained about the importance of respecting the space of animals. "Teaching animal life from childhood makes a lot of difference as they grow up with another view of the environment."

The guide also warned about the mistake made by humans that mistakenly end up feeding wild animals. An example is coatis that are present in Toledo and the region. “It is not correct to feed wild animals because they have a diet and feeding routine. They must go after their own food”, explained Garda.

Care for the environment

Many people may find that the preservation of fauna and flora is the business of adults, but children are keen when it comes to caring for the environment. “Nature is beautiful just the way it is, and we need to do our part”, says 9-year-old student, Maharra Ramos, who was following the visit.

10-year-old student, Evlyn Cristina, enjoyed the opportunity of learning about the animals, but for her, simple actions can contribute to preservation. “After today's visit I will start taking more care of nature by planting, watering the flowers and also sorting the garbage”, she says.

For the 4th-grade teacher, Cirlei Gozzi Moreira, the partnership of the municipal school with Prati-Donaduzzi is a way of showing in practice all the work done in the classroom. "Nothing better than the student being in the environment, see, feel, perceive, breathe what nature can offer, because today we no longer have access, only in the zoo", emphasizes the teacher.

The Sustainable Prati project has been carried out since 2014 and aims to foster environmental education. “We carry out a work as a way of complementing the student's curriculum and also adding knowledge”, says Prati-Donaduzzi's environmental technician, Faneza de Oliveria.
