Leader of the second race in Goiânia for 22 of the 29 complete laps (75%), Valdeno Brito was able to celebrate belatedly the podium that escaped him in the final meters of the race. The driver from Paraíba was promoted to third place (had crossed the finish line in fourth) due to the disqualification of the winner, Ricardo Maurício.
Thus, Valdeno reaches his second podium of the season (the first was in Londrina, in the fourth stage) and the 32nd of his career in Stock Car.
The result helped Prati-Donaduzzi to close the weekend as the highest scoring team in Goiânia: 57 points in total.
“I wanted to do like Carlos Sainz Jr. at Interlagos, get back there and get on the podium,” joked Valdeno Brito, referring to the McLaren driver who was promoted to third place in the Formula 1 Brazilian GP after the podium celebration and organized the biggest party with the team, having their own 'awards ceremony'.
“Securing a podium for punishing an opponent is not the best way, but the rule has to be enforced and I am happy to get at least this 'reward' after so much work. We saw the podium escape in the end and now we know it could even have been a victory. However, the important thing is to see that we are competitive”, said Valdeno.
For Prati-Donaduzzi, as a sponsor, this represents the 25th podium of a driver wearing the company's colors (and the sixth only this year).
