Prati-Donaduzzi to open a Business Unit abroad

Prati-Donaduzzi Pharmaceutical industry, based in Toledo in western Paraná, took another step towards the internationalization of the company. From 2020, the industry will have a Business Unit in the United States or Canada.

The unit will aim to establish partnerships, seek opportunities and capture innovations to develop and license medicines in the Central Nervous System area, focus of industry research in the coming years.

By 2020, Prati-Donaduzzi expects to expand its portfolio with at least 100 products, including new generic molecules, branded drugs and new presentations. Most of them will have the function of treating illnesses such as anxiety, depression, refractory epilepsy, dementia and disorders.

Prospects to open the International Business Unit began months ago and last week, CEO Eder Fernando Maffissoni, Centralpack (Group Company) director, Victor Donaduzzi and Prati-Donaduzzi Innovation and Clinical Research manager, Liberato Brum Junior visited technology parks, universities and incubators in Miami, Tampa, Gainesville and Orlando in the United States and Montreal, In Canada.

 “We were looking for a good place to settle down. We want to be present in an ecosystem of innovation. The aim is to license and develop innovative products to be marketed by Prati-Donaduzzi in Brazil and abroad”, said Maffissoni.

 The choice for these countries is linked to the strong culture of research, innovation, and agility in new product approval offered by US and Canadian regulatory agencies. “Our goal is to double in size every five years sustainably. We need partners that meet our demands”, Maffissoni said.

 Prati-Donaduzzi's proposal to set up the unit in these countries and establish partnerships in the area of ​​Research, Development and Innovation was enthusiastically received by the directors of technology parks and research centers visited abroad.

Internationalization

The opening of the Business Unit outside Brazil is another step towards the internationalization of the company that has been planned for five years and is based on its connections with researchers, universities and American and Canadian companies.

The company is currently certified by National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and exports a wide range of functional foods to the US market.
