This week another action of Prati-Donaduzzi's "Prati Sustentável" project was held at the Educational Foundation of Toledo (Funet), with children from four to five years old of full-time shift. The Preschool students did an activity of planting of herbs and spices in the garden of the institution, planting basil and mint. In addition, we took each sample of tea and seasoning for parents to prepare at home.

"We know that long before medicine was as we know it today, various diseases and irritations were treated by using plants. Nowadays, with the increase of home gardens, many people have opted to create vegetable and herbal gardens”, explains Prati-Donaduzzi's environmental technician, Faneza de Oliveira.

The aim of the planting activity with the children was to raise awareness about the importance of a medicinal garden and spices and the planting of seedlings, as well as the identification of the types of herbs and spices that can be used on a day-to-day basis and the functions in the body. "A medicinal garden is interesting not only for the benefits that certain plants offer, but for the fact that gardening tends to be a calming activity, in addition to enabling contact with nature”, Faneza added.
