Home office: 6 precautions with ergonomics for a quality work

The health crisis due to Covid-19 has transformed the daily lives of thousands of people and the technology has become a great ally at this time. Many companies had to reduce the flow of employees internally to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, and mainly, to preserve the health and well-being of their employees.

One of the solutions found to continue the activities was the adoption of home office. Although a trend in the labor market, the practice was intensified and anticipated, thus requiring adaptations. Many people had to transform a home space into a makeshift office.

However, a few simple precautions can make this new routine comfortable and healthy. One of the aspects that often go unnoticed in the home office is the posture. It directly affects the quality of work.

Ergonomics

Choosing the right environment, desk, chair and lighting are some important precautions, as highlighted by Prati-Donaduzzi physiotherapist, Anna Karolina Welter Sato.

"It is extremely important for the employee to be attentive in relation to posture, lighting in place, proper positioning of the computer and other equipment that is used".

In addition to the ideal location, it is essential that, during the day, there are small breaks during working hours with the performance of stretching and breathing techniques.

“Muscle stretching promotes physical and mental well-being. For this reason, it is very important to carry out such exercises during the working hours”, points out Anna.

Check out some expert tips for your home office:

-Take care of your posture when sitting;

-Keep your feet flat on the floor;

-Keep your elbows in line with your wrist;

-Keep your screen at eye level at least 50 cm away. If you use a laptop, it is important to use a laptop stand, a keyboard and a mouse;

-Use the computer in a lighting environment; and

- Every 50 minutes, stand and gently stretch.
